What we believe

There was a boy whose early life was not straightforward. There were huge questions over who his father really was, although interestingly he and his mother never had any doubts. He was born in a country that had been conquered and occupied by a foreign power and, like people all over the world today, he and his family were homeless and refugees for a while. He learned the family business but for the last few years of his life he did his own thing, up to a point, impressing and terrifying people in equal measure. He died in tragic circumstances in his early thirties.

This man’s life is both intriguing and really ordinary. Yet his birth is celebrated every year by hundreds of millions of people.

The Bible makes the claim that in Jesus, God had come into the world. To win the world he had to give up everything the world considered important – wealth, social status, power – and serve others, even when that resulted in his execution, nailed to a cross. But he didn’t stay dead – he rose from the tomb, to show the world forever that the love of God is stronger than anything, even death itself.

The story of Jesus does not end in the past though – we believe that his love has the power to change us now. Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.”

We are a community who believe in Jesus and are seeking to grow as his followers. We’d love to share what this looks like with you – if you want to know more, get in touch with us, we would love to talk about it with you.
