Emmanuel House an update

Here's the Spring 2019 update from Denis Tully at Emmanuel House.

Hello and welcome to our Spring Newsletter!

Wow! What a busy and overwhelming start to 2019! The support we received as part of our condemned boiler appeal will go down in history! Thank you all for donating, sharing and supporting us at this vital time. Work on installing the new boiler started yesterday and we will keep you updated on progress!

We support the most vulnerable citizens in Nottingham in order to tackle isolation, vulnerability and homelessness; and it's you, our supporters, that make it happen. With your support that we continue to make a difference, thank you.

I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and the array of wonderful stories that have been made possible thanks to our supporters. Please get in touch for more information or to arrange a visit to see first-hand how your support is making the difference in 2019.

Thank you,
Denis Tully, CEO

Nottingham Night Shelter

On Monday 8th April Emmanuel House launched the new Nottingham Night Shelter, a pilot project funded by the Government’s Rapid Rehousing Pathway.

Homelessness and rough sleeping are year-round issues and Emmanuel House offers year-round support. Read more about the shelter here

Womanuel Project

Initially a six-week project for women who were homeless, in conjunction with our Wellbeing Support Group and Nonsuch, our weekly women’s group has grown in both strength and numbers since it’s first session back in June 2018. Designed to encourage social interaction and offer a relaxed environment in which to express and explore different areas of interest, the weekly meet-up has experienced a variety of activities. Streetwise Opera @ EH

The Streetwise Opera Nottingham team run a weekly session at the Emmanuel House Support Centre every Tuesday afternoon and raise the roof!  It is certainly a highlight in the week!

Beneficiaries, volunteers and staff all enjoy the benefits of singing and hearing the ‘powerful, authentic and raw passion and epic emotions from everyday life’. The sessions not only build confidence but also empower service users to make positive changes in their life. Read more here. Image Courtesy of the Nottingham Post.

Volunteer Spotlight: Trevor

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things that you can do! We asked Trevor, who has been volunteering at Emmanuel House for over two years, about his experience with us. Read more here

Volunteer with us!

Do you want to lend your skills to a local independent charity that strives to change the lives of homeless, vulnerable and isolated adults in Nottingham?

Do you have time to dedicate on a regular or one-off basis? Do you want to gain experience in support work, customer service, retail, marketing or administration? We’re always looking for volunteers to join our team and help us to deliver our service, both working directly with beneficiaries or ‘behind the scenes’ of the organisation. For more information about volunteering with Emmanuel House, visit our Volunteering Page.
