Children & Young people

Penny Carrier  is our Leader of Children, Families and Youth Ministry.

Penny recently left her job at BT, where she had worked for 39 years doing a variety of roles ranging from a call centre team manager to a digital media learning and development specialist.  In search of something new, she applied for the St Paul’s role – at the church where she has worshipped for over 10 years.

“During this time, I’ve been involved in Young Church and in setting up and leading a worship band,” she explained. I’m passionate about young people and excited about continuing the ministry among children, families and youth, both at St Pauls and in our local community.’’

Penny, who lives in Compton Acres, is a stalwart member of the well-known local choir, West Bridgford Social Singers, and a founder member of the singing group The Bling Singers. “I’m very interested in music and hopefully that will come in useful within my role,” she added. “I really want to serve and support our volunteers who are providing for our young people,” she added. “I’m hoping over the next few years we’ll have great fun together and grow in our relationships with each other and God.”

Look out for Penny at St Paul’s, Toddlers, Young Church, all-age services, special events and in the local schools where she has already taken part in Harvest Assemblies where, it is rumoured, she was disguised as a carrot!

Young Church

We have a non-communion all age service on the second Sunday of every month, which we try to keep to under an hour.

Every other week during our 10:30am Sunday service we have Young Church which meets in our halls. There are 3 age groups and it’s very fluid and informal. Parents can stay with their children if they wish and we have a lovely team of volunteers, who have the necessary safeguarding checks in line with Diocesan policies.

Young Church groups:
• Little Stars 0 – 3 years old
• Sparklers 3 – 7 years old
• Shine age 7 plus
